The Oaks of Louisiana is a 312-acre master-planned development created in 2007 when a premier Shreveport multifaith retirement community, Live Oak, merged with Willis-Knighton Health System, the region’s largest healthcare provider.

While residents always select their own physicians and hospitals, it is good to know that the organization behind The Oaks of Louisiana is a nationally-recognized non-profit healthcare system, with more than 52,000 annual admissions, 300+ physicians in the WK Physician Network, and one of the largest non-governmental employers in Louisiana.

In 2006, Willis-Knighton purchased a farm in southeast Shreveport adjacent to Live Oak to be used to enhance its mission to older adults. Later that year, Live Oak joined Willis-Knighton with a shared vision to create an active adult and senior living neighborhood, healthcare services and other amenities on a beautiful, wooded campus. It is just minutes from shopping, restaurants, banks and hospitals.

There is a Chapel, comfortable Clubhouse, MarketPlace, and Alta and John Franks Community Centre for residents to enjoy just steps from their front doors.
