Jan. 11, 2012, for Garden Apartment resident Reba K. Neel was “the most perfect day a human being could plan.” On that day, Neel was recognized for her gift of $100,000 to Louisiana Tech University’s School of Art for a scholarship to honor her parents, Lenora McDonald and Oliver Fulton Neel.

First birthdays are a big deal and it was no different for Tower at The Oaks. The luxury four-story apartment residence that opened Nov. 1, 2010, on The Oaks of Louisiana campus, marked the milestone with a dinner for residents and special guests in the Tower’s Oak Room. Charter residents were recognized and it was a wonderful opportunity to remember the vision of Margaret and James Elrod and what was involved to see it come to fruition.

The Tower Birthday Hour at Grumpy’s on Oct. 31 certainly drew a cast of memorable masqueraders. Residents took their cue from the Halloween theme and, with a little of their own hocus pocus, transformed themselves into a variety of sweet and spooky characters.
