On the campus of The Oaks of Louisiana in southeast Shreveport, construction is underway for an assisted living complex, Savannah at The Oaks, which is scheduled to open in the spring of 2011. The addition of the assisted living building is another step in the mission of The Oaks of Louisiana and Willis-Knighton Health System, its parent company, to provide comprehensive residential options for mature adults in this master-planned community.
“Given demand for assisted living, we believe this is a logical addition in our community as we work to offer a variety of residential options at The Oaks of Louisiana,” said The Oaks of Louisiana Executive Director Margaret Elrod. “As the population ages, it is important for us to adapt to the needs of this growing segment of our market.”
Savannah at The Oaks is a two-story design located adjacent to the Tower at The Oaks which is scheduled to open later this year. Savannah at The Oaks will offer 26 residences, including studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments. The 41,000 square-foot building can expand to accommodate an additional 22 residences as demand dictates.
The design and furnishings will mirror the standards incorporated in the Tower at The Oaks. The building will feature an open dining room and wide veranda for outdoor dining, both overlooking a courtyard. A climate controlled corridor connected to the Tower will give residents at Savannah convenient access to amenities at the Tower, including the spa and wellness center.
The $6.5 million building, which is being contracted locally, was designed by THW Design, the Atlanta firm that designed the Tower.
